17.07.2026 06:03Two firearms have been discovered in Dnipropetrovsk region that investigators believe may have been used by servicemen of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade (OMBr) in the commission of crimes in Kyiv region. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement from the Military Law Enforcement Service.
Searches on the territory of one of the communities of Dnipropetrovsk region were conducted on July 9 as part of criminal proceedings under articles on premeditated murder (clause 1, part 2, article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and unlawful deprivation of liberty or kidnapping (part 3, article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). During the search operations, law enforcement officers discovered two firearms.
All weapons found have been handed over to National Police investigators for forensic examination. The results of the examinations are expected to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and confirm or refute whether these weapons were fired during the commission of the crimes.
The investigation was prompted by events on the night of June 28, when seven individuals broke into the property of two brothers in the village of Kalynivka, Kyiv region, and forcibly took the men away to an unknown location. The bodies of the deceased were subsequently found in a tree line on the territory of Poltava region. According to investigators, the crime was motivated by revenge stemming from a domestic conflict between the brothers and the wife of the former commander of the 155th OMBr, Stanislav Luchanov.
On July 11, it became known that Luchanov had gone absent without leave and was placed on a wanted list. On the same day, nine servicemen of the brigade were suspended from duty in connection with suspicion of involvement in the kidnapping. That same evening, law enforcement officers notified Luchanov of suspicion under articles on unlawful deprivation of liberty and premeditated murder.
On July 14, a court ordered the former commander of the 155th OMBr to be held in pre-trial detention for 60 days with no right to post bail.
