January 5, 2024Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny raised concerns about the challenging situation regarding personnel within the Ukrainian Armed Forces during discussions on the mobilization law in the Verkhovna Rada.
Zaluzhny’s words were reported by NV publication.
“I need people; the Russians have already called up 400,000 and are preparing several hundred thousand more by June, up to 400,000. Whom do I have to fight with? Should I appeal to the world and ask for people, or should you go and fight if you cannot provide?” Zaluzhny stated.
Additionally, according to the publication, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces opposed the idea of involving convicts and those with criminal records in the army.
“He says: Is this army for bad people? It’s not true,” the publication writes, citing sources in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
It’s worth noting that on Thursday, January 4th, the parliamentary committee began considering a bill to toughen mobilization.
On January 8th, the committee is expected to make a decision regarding the further fate of the bill.
