The next President of Ukraine will sign a capitulation agreement under Russia’s terms in 2025
January 10, 2024On Tuesday, discussions resumed in the House of Representatives regarding aid to Ukraine and addressing the migration crisis. However, senators were unable to reach an agreement.
This was reported by Politico.
Conservatives proposed linking the allocation of funds to Ukraine with achieving specific border security metrics, but not everyone agreed with this requirement.
As noted by the publication, negotiations that link immigration restrictions and foreign aid primarily focus on political changes rather than withholding additional financial assistance to Ukraine until the U.S. government meets migration demands. However, the idea of political changes was rejected during the negotiations because a significant number of Republicans do not support this proposal. Such challenges “significantly complicate the timely delivery of funds to Ukraine,” according to Politico.
“I insisted on creating some sort of enforcement mechanism, for example, to tie Ukraine funding to actual border security,” said Senator Ron Johnson to the publication. He, like most Republicans, criticized Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who, according to him, “rejected this idea outright.” Therefore, due to the lack of consensus, aid to Ukraine will continue to be in question for an indefinite period, Politico reports.
