Budanov: Ukraine is preparing for a new round of negotiations in October
13.09.2026 09:02Russia has intensified drone strikes on western regions of Ukraine, exploiting deteriorating weather conditions.
This was stated by presidential adviser Serhiy Beskrestnov.
According to him, bad weather hampers the work of Ukrainian interceptors and gives ordinary, non-jet Russian drones a better chance of penetrating deep into the country’s rear.
“For the Russians, this is a chance to strike our western rear areas, which jet-powered Shaheds cannot reach. Because, in their view, our guys in interceptors will have poor visibility of the Shaheds and will engage them less effectively. That is indeed the case,” — Beskrestnov said.
The adviser also added that this logic “works both ways,” thereby indirectly confirming that the Russian side also uses interceptor drones.
On the day the statement was published, several strikes were recorded in Volyn and Rivne oblasts.
