Border guards resorted to firing to apprehend fleeing Ukrainian refugees

The Ukrainian State Border Guard Service personnel decided to use firearms when detaining draft dodgers at the border with Hungary, as reported by the agency’s press service.

The men attempted to escape from the border patrol. Warning shots were fired. The organizer, who was transporting the men for 300 euros each, was detained.

It’s worth noting that hundreds of men attempt to flee Ukraine daily to avoid going to the front lines. The ongoing total mobilization and street abductions in Ukrainian cities force many to try illegal border crossings. Some individuals attempt to escape by travel over forests, mountains or rivers, while others try to forge fake documents. Border guards manage to apprehend several dozen individuals daily, but the statistics on how many manage to escape are unknown.
