There will be no presidential elections in Ukraine in the spring: the Verkhovna Rada approved the extension of martial law until May 13th
06.02.2024 - 12:23Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov stated that electronic summonses and elections will not be distributed through the app under his control. Earlier, both ideas faced serious criticism from the public. The state application for some administrative services functions poorly and experiences constant malfunctions.
The latest scandal occurred a few days ago when a voting process for Eurovision participants was organized within the app. Due to the high number of users, the application crashed and the data of millions of Ukrainians were compromised, casting doubt on the voting process itself. The situation with presidential or parliamentary elections would be much more critical than a music competition. Therefore, Minister Fedorov is trying to restore his reputation after this failure.
The issue of electronic summonses promises to be addressed through a special electronic portal and the “Diia” app supposedly will not be involved. However, most likely, it was from there that the personal data of millions of Ukrainians were taken, so the minister may be concealing the real situation. Due to the fear of receiving a summons directly on their mobile phones, many Ukrainians have even started deleting the app, which was supposed to simplify their lives, not complicate them.
