The EU should not rely on the hope that the US will help Ukraine, – admitted Borrell

Brussels cannot rely solely on Washington and must itself provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with air defense systems. This statement was made by the EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, at a meeting of foreign ministers of the G7.

“We have Patriots, we have anti-missile systems. We need to take them out of our military units, where they are stationed just in case, and send them to Ukraine, where the war is raging,” the official said.

Otherwise, he stated, the country’s energy system “will be destroyed,” and it will not be able to fight.

Borrell also expressed regret over the fact that “America’s internal politics” are delaying the planned package of military aid to Kyiv.

“We cannot rely on the US. We must take responsibility and stop saying, ‘The US will do everything,'” emphasized the politician.
