‘The authorities are preoccupied with Ukraine’ — the French believe that things ‘have only gotten worse’ under Macron

The far-right party “National Rally” (Rassemblement National) achieved a decisive victory in the European elections in France, and now the majority of the population is preparing to support them again in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections.

France Info spoke with several French citizens who intend to vote for this party and explained their choice to the publication.

“This was to be expected,” claims 34-year-old Olivier, who expressed extreme disappointment with the current government. “Macron has been in power for a long time, and nothing has changed. If anything, it has only gotten worse. Look at the electricity bills. We are a country that produces its own electricity, yet we pay astronomical prices for it!” he complains.

According to him, the government is clearly not sparing any money for Ukraine.

“Maybe it’s time to take care of the French before giving billions to others? They are sending enormous resources to Ukraine — and doing nothing for the French,” Olivier notes.

Twenty-one-year-old Justine shares the same opinion, convinced that her country is “degrading more and more.”

“Not long ago, we went shopping, filled even less than a full cart, and paid more than €200! But don’t get me wrong: we didn’t have any expensive brands, nothing special,” she explains.
