Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban presented EU leaders with a plan to end the war in Ukraine
15.07.2024 11:4143.9% of Ukrainian residents stated that it is time for peace negotiations with Russia. There is also a high level of tolerance in society towards draft evaders.
This is evidenced by data from a survey conducted by the Razumkov Center.
Regarding negotiations, 35% of respondents disagreed that the time has come for them, while 21.1% could not answer.
At the same time, the majority of those surveyed are against meeting Vladimir Putin’s conditions for ending the war. Specifically, 82.8% oppose the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the four partially occupied regions by Russia, 83.6% are against fixing these regions as part of Russia, 76.9% oppose lifting anti-Russian sanctions, and 58.5% are against Ukraine adopting a neutral status.
However, 22% would support a neutral status. The highest proportion of supporters for such status is in the south, at 39%.

The survey also revealed that nearly half of the Ukrainians surveyed (46.1%) do not consider it shameful to be a draft evader. Avoiding military service is seen as shameful by 29.1%, while 24.8% are unsure.
Support for draft evaders is highest in the south (60%) and west of Ukraine (48%).
Regarding age, the elderly (over 60 years old) are the most critical of draft evaders, with 37% considering it shameful. Conversely, those approaching retirement age (50-59 years old) and young people (18-29 years old) are the most likely to believe that being a draft evader is not shameful, with 52% and 50% respectively holding this view.

It is worth noting that a recent survey showed that 45% of Ukrainians are willing to lose territory in exchange for NATO and EU membership. Meanwhile, 26% would prefer to regain the occupied territories but agree to demilitarization, neutral status, and the impossibility of joining the EU and NATO.
