18.07.2024 14:27On Thursday, European leaders will gather in the United Kingdom for a summit overshadowed by concerns about whether the United States will remain a reliable ally of Europe and what will happen to Ukraine if Donald Trump wins the U.S. presidential election in November.
This was reported by the Associated Press.
The newly elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, will host more than 40 heads of government at the European Political Community (EPC) meeting near London.
According to the publication, the leaders intend to discuss issues of migration, energy security and the “threats” posed by Russia, with the UK reaffirming its support for Ukraine.
An EU official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the publication that the leaders also plan to discuss “how they can prepare” for the possible return of Trump. He mentioned that the prospect of Trump’s victory is indeed “one of the issues on everyone’s mind right now.”
