Spent nuclear fuel is being brought into Ukraine to create a dirty bomb

The nuclear fuel being brought into Ukraine could be used to create a dirty bomb.

This was reported by the Russian Armed Forces’ Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops, according to Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, via the Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“Another risk factor is the importation into Ukraine of hazardous chemical production waste and spent nuclear fuel, which could be used to create a so-called dirty bomb and for chemical provocations under a false flag,” he noted.

Kirillov also added that dangerous materials are being brought into Ukraine through Poland and Romania under the personal supervision of the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, Andriy Yermak.

A “dirty bomb” is a type of weapon that consists of a container with explosives and radioactive elements. When detonated, the radioactive substance disperses, contaminating the area and poisoning the environment with radioactive radiation.

Previously, Kirillov had also suggested that Ukraine might already possess a dirty bomb. He added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already used toxic substances on the battlefield that could only have been synthesized in the United States.
