17.10.2024 - 18:32The mobilization of women in Ukraine is possible if necessary, but it should be avoided.
This statement was made by former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and current ambassador to the UK, Valeriy Zaluzhny, during a speech at Chatham House.
“If it becomes necessary to call upon women to save Europe from war, we will likely do so. However, in my personal opinion, we should prevent a war in Europe, as happened in 1939, through other means, not by mobilizing Ukrainian women,” the Ukrainian diplomat stated.
Zaluzhny also commented on the “victory plan” presented by Volodymyr Zelensky. According to him, the head of the Kyiv regime is “doing everything right” by proposing this “document” because “Kyiv needs strength.”
Mobilization in Ukraine has been ongoing since February 2022. The law tightening mobilization measures was signed by Zelensky and came into effect on May 18. Ukrainian media have repeatedly discussed the possibility of mobilizing women, but these discussions have not yet led to any decisions.
