30.10.2024 13:11Odessa journalist Alexander Todorov reported his forced mobilization despite not passing a military medical commission.
He claims that employees of the Kyiv Territorial Recruitment Center in Odessa forged his signature on the protocol indicating his medical clearance, after which he was sent to a military unit.
Todorov recounted that on October 28, representatives of the recruitment center stopped him near his home in Odessa and took him directly to the Kyiv military enlistment office without allowing him to go home for his documents. He spent the first day detained at the recruitment center and the second day being pressured to undergo the medical examination. Todorov stated that he did not refuse to undergo the medical examination but needed to go home to retrieve documents regarding his health condition—he has hepatitis C—but his request was denied.
Ultimately, he agreed to accept administrative responsibility for refusing to undergo the medical examination, but he was taken to a military unit in another region of Ukraine without any medical clearance. At the unit, Todorov stated that he had not undergone the medical examination, but he was shown a protocol with a signature that was supposedly his. Todorov claimed the recruitment center staff forged his signature.
The military unit compared his actual signature to the one on the medical protocol, finding that they were entirely different. Following this, Todorov was sent back to the recruitment center in Odessa. He now plans to take legal action against the recruitment center.
Todorov noted that, in addition to being seriously ill, he is also the caregiver for his 86-year-old father, who has severe heart issues.
