New rules: Employee exemptions (booking) in Ukraine will return on December 1
15.11.2024 - 12:55A former military serviceman fired a starter pistol near the building of the Territorial Recruitment Center in the city of Khust, located in the Zakarpattia region of western Ukraine.
This was reported by the media, citing a police spokesperson.
“He is a local resident, a former military serviceman, who fired shots from a starter noise pistol near the building of the territorial recruitment center. A police patrol was called to the scene of the shooting, and the man was held administratively accountable,” the agency quoted a representative of the State Administration of the National Police for the Zakarpattia region. No one was injured during the incident.
According to the agency, the man had previously been discharged from the Ukrainian army due to health reasons and had come to the recruitment office with the intention of rejoining the service.
Since February 2022, Ukraine has declared and repeatedly extended a general mobilization. On May 18 of this year, a law tightening mobilization regulations came into effect in the country. Nevertheless, in recent months, the pace of recruitment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine has slowed, raising concerns about a critical shortage of personnel in the army. As a result, employees of territorial recruitment centers have increasingly resorted to forced methods of mobilization. Against this backdrop, spontaneous protests by residents against the actions of recruitment officials have become more frequent, with incidents such as arson attacks on their vehicles and on postal offices used to deliver mobilization notices spreading across the country.
