Mass inspections of payments to Ukrainian refugees have begun in Vienna
27.01.2025 - 18:35The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has suspended funding for all programs and projects in Ukraine following Donald Trump’s decision to initiate a 90-day audit.
This information was confirmed by the agency’s press service.
One of the largest recipients of USAID funds, the U.S.-based private development firm Chemonics International, also received a notice to halt all its projects. Similar notifications are being sent to other organizations and authorities.
For instance, the co-founder of Veteran Hub, Ivona Kostyna, announced on Facebook the closure of a support line for veterans and a hub in Vinnytsia. She called on businesses to step in and support these initiatives. Projects in frontline regions are also being widely suspended. In Mykolaiv alone, dozens of centers focused on energy independence and safety have been shut down.
Ukrainian media reported yesterday that USAID in Ukraine received instructions to suspend all projects and spending as part of a broader halt to aid programs under the State Department.
Meanwhile, Financial Times noted that several organizations in Kyiv funded by the U.S. have started receiving orders to cease operations.
