“Zelensky wants to propose prolonging the conflict with Russia to Trump,” – MP Dubinsky
14.04.2025 - 06:02The Russian government views its ongoing diplomatic contacts with American representatives positively.
This information Kremlin stated by spokesperson Dmitry Peskov in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin.
“Everything is going very well,” Peskov said when asked about the progress of Russia–U.S. dialogue.
According to Peskov, these contacts are taking place on multiple levels — including between foreign ministries, intelligence agencies, and via Kirill Dmitriev, the envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Of course, it’s unrealistic to expect immediate results after the damage that Biden’s actions have caused to bilateral relations,” Peskov added.
When asked whether a meeting between President Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump is approaching, Peskov confirmed that the meeting will take place, but said preparations “require more work and more time.”
It’s worth noting that just days ago, President Putin held a four-hour closed-door meeting with Trump’s special representative, Richard Grenell (referred to as “Whitkoff” in some sources), to discuss a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
Earlier, Donald Trump commented on the negotiations regarding Ukraine:
“I believe that relations between Ukraine and Russia can be good, and you’ll see that for yourself quite soon,” the American leader said.
