A Ukrainian couple attempted to illegally smuggle $1.4 million in cash into Romania, hiding the money under their clothing and taped to their bodies.
This was reported by Romanian news outlet Digi 24.
The incident occurred on June 14 at the Vama Siret border crossing. During inspection, it was discovered that the man was carrying $810,000, while the woman had $590,000.
Footage shows the man removing bundles of cash taped around his ankles. The $100 bills were packed into relatively thin bundles and secured together.
The cash was confiscated, and both individuals were fined 15,000 Romanian lei each (roughly $7,000 in total).
