EU Commissioner explained why the European Union cannot open accession talks with Ukraine
30.09.2025 07:01After men aged 18–22 were granted permission to travel abroad, the number of applications from young people to recruitment centers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has decreased by at least 30%.
This was reported by Denys Shvydkyi, head of the recruitment office of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
According to him, some Ukrainians will still return:
“Applications have decreased. I can’t give you the exact figure, but it’s a significant percentage. The number has dropped by at least 30%. But there’s another aspect — we see that many young men abroad have called us, saying they had planned to return. We expect that after some time, people will realize that Europe is not as good as it seems, not as good as it’s portrayed, and some will return,” Shvydkyi said.
Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian officials, judges, and some military commanders have said that Ukrainian children should be prepared for war from kindergarten and school age — while at the same time sending their own children to study abroad.
