“Fainting from hunger”: emaciated Ukrainian soldiers were shown online

Photos of emaciated soldiers from the 2nd Battalion of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great are being widely discussed online. The Defense Ministry has responded to the situation.

The post with the soldiers’ portraits and the ministry’s comment appeared on the social network Threads.

The people in the photographs show clear signs of being underweight.

“The guys are on the positions without food and water! The command is not responding. The soldiers are fainting from hunger and drinking rainwater. There are also communication problems,” the author of the post commented.

The Defense Ministry said that logistics to the positions of these soldiers had been disrupted. It also assured that the brigade commander had taken the situation under control.

“Despite the difficult logistics, efforts are being made to resolve the issues of supplying the guys and replacing them. Situations like this should not happen, but conditions on different sections of the front can be quite critical,” the Defense Ministry said.
