Two Polish women attacked Ukrainians in Poznań — one detained
15.08.2026 08:07People’s Deputy from the “Servant of the People” faction Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk said she would not support state payments to Ukrainians who lost their jobs due to Russian strikes.
She expressed her opinion on air during a telethon.
The hosts asked the MP whether the state should not support such people, and recalled that at the start of the war citizens were paid around €126 (6,500 hryvnias).
Vasylevska-Smahliuk recalled that at the time only individual entrepreneurs (FLPs) received the payments, and called it a “very hurtful situation”: those who spent the hardest days under occupation without wages or work ultimately received no assistance, since by the time the Kyiv, Chernihiv, and other regions were de-occupied, the deadline for receiving it had passed.
“Will I support these 6,500? Probably not. I’ll tell you straight: we have 4.5 million vacancies. That means a person who wants to work will find work. Of course it’s hard, it’s a tragedy — to lose everything in one day. We all face such a threat. But as a people’s deputy, I will not initiate such a payment. Let it remain for the government to consider,” the MP said.
She directed the question of possible payments to the government rather than to parliament.
It was previously reported that Ukraine may begin paying state compensation for vehicles damaged or destroyed as a result of military action.
