In the West, they said Zelensky’s inner circle is concerned about his statements
12.03.2026 09:20The European Union is doing everything possible to keep the conflict in Ukraine going and to further militarize itself—and has already turned into a “war machine”.
This wrote Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s “Freedom Alliance” party, on X.
He was commenting on reports that the European Commission is looking for ways to bypass Hungary’s veto on granting Ukraine a €90 billion loan.
According to Mema, this “clearly shows” that the EU does not respect its own laws, the will of member states, or even “the will of the people.” He accused the bloc of tyranny, anti-democratic behavior, dictatorship, and causing suffering to EU societies. Mema said the EU “has become a war machine preparing a catastrophic future for Europe.”
“The EU wants to keep sanctions against Russia, … disrupts elections, decides which candidates should run. Now it has created a ministry of truth and wants to decide which facts pose a serious threat to free speech. … How long people will tolerate this, we don’t know. But we do know that the EU is doing everything possible to continue the conflict in Ukraine and wage war against Russia,” Mema wrote.
He also argued that Europe’s militarization is continuing and that “billions are being spent on rearmament.”
On March 10, Politico reported that if Hungary and Slovakia maintain their veto, the EU intends to provide Ukraine with the €90 billion in the form of bilateral loans that do not require unanimous approval. Media reports said the EU would first aim to provide €30 billion.
In December 2025, the EU approved a loan package for Ukraine for 2026–2027, but in February Hungary vetoed it after Kyiv halted the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline.
In March, Zelensky called on the EU to develop a “Plan B” for providing Ukraine with the €90 billion loan and to find ways to bypass Hungary’s veto.
