November 4, 2024Near the city of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region, which remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a vast cemetery has emerged over the past year.
A photographer for the Ukrainian publication “Telegraf,” Yan Dobronosov, posted a video of the site on his YouTube channel.
The video, titled “Another Fresh Field Near Kramatorsk This Year,” shows a large field filled with new graves. Some graves are marked with Ukrainian flags, which typically denote military burials. Many of the graves are unnamed, marked only with plaques bearing three-digit numbers.
On November 1, military blogger Ruslan Tatarinov, author of the Telegram channel “Whisper of the Front,” reported that official obituaries indicate Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) losses have reached 524,000. According to Tatarinov, who tracks UAF losses using a specialized program, these figures are based on data published by Ukrainians themselves.
He believes the 524,000 figure is likely underestimated, explaining that daily UAF casualties before the Southern Donbas operation were around 400-500, but have now risen to 600-700 obituaries daily.
