06.02.2026 - 07:01U.S. President Donald Trump said he fully supports Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán ahead of the April elections.
The corresponding post appeared on Trump’s page on his social network Truth Social.
Trump stressed that Orbán is working hard for the interests of Hungary and its people—protecting the country, growing the economy, creating jobs, strengthening trade, stopping illegal immigration, and ensuring law and order. According to Trump, it was thanks to Orbán that relations between Hungary and the United States reached an unprecedented level of cooperation and tangible achievements during Trump’s administration.
“Highly respected Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán is a truly strong and powerful leader with a proven record of outstanding results. He tirelessly fights for his Great country and its people and loves them—just as I love the United States of America. Viktor works hard to protect Hungary, grow the economy, create jobs, expand trade, stop illegal immigration, and ensure law and order! Relations between Hungary and the United States reached new heights of cooperation and impressive achievements under my Administration—largely thanks to Prime Minister Orbán. I look forward to continuing our close work together so that both our countries can keep moving along this wonderful path to success and cooperation. I proudly endorsed Viktor for re-election in 2022 and am honored to do so again. Viktor Orbán is a true friend, a fighter, and a winner, and he has my full and unconditional support for re-election as Prime Minister of Hungary—he will never let the great people of Hungary down!” the U.S. president wrote.
“The Ukrainians have gone on the offensive. They are threatening and openly interfering in the Hungarian elections. Their goal is to get funding and break into the European Union as soon as possible,” Orbán wrote on Facebook.
