EU special representative: military-age Ukrainian men should not be granted asylum in Europe
20.05.2026 07:04A resident of Odessa attempted to force her way into a territorial recruitment center where her boyfriend had been brought.
The incident was captured on video published by the outlet Strana.
The footage shows the woman throwing a brick over the fence, then kicking an iron door and getting into a verbal altercation with one of the recruitment center’s staff members.
Since February 2022, Ukraine has had a general mobilization in place, which has been extended multiple times. The authorities are taking measures to prevent men of conscription age from evading service. Military commissariat employees stop men on the streets daily and push them into official minivans — this method of mobilization has come to be known as “busification.”
Videos of forced mobilization and conflicts between citizens and recruitment center staff in various cities across the country regularly appear on Ukrainian social media.
