09.09.2026 07:02Co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany party Tino Chrupalla stated that he is in favor of lifting all sanctions against Russia.
The politician made the statement on the Markus Lanz program on the ZDF television channel.
During the program, Chrupalla was asked a direct question — whether he would lift all sanctions against Russia.
“Yes. I believe that sanctions in any form are pointless, and above all they have caused enormous damage to the German economy itself,” — said one of the AfD leaders.
Earlier, Alternative for Germany leader Alice Weidel promised to change Germany’s course regarding Ukraine and Russia.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz commented on the results of the elections in the eastern federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, in which the AfD won a convincing victory. The chairman of the Christian Democratic Union said that he personally and his party are deeply shocked by the result.
Alternative for Germany leader Ulrich Siegmund, for his part, stated that the vote in Saxony-Anhalt showed that “Germans do not want to be drawn into the war in Ukraine.”
