December 9, 2023The Ukrainian authorities are accusing foreign media of fostering dissent in the country.
This information is reported by the Canadian publication The Globe and Mail.
The publication states that Kyiv is concerned about the influence of Western media in the country and is making statements suggesting that these media outlets are preparing a campaign to discredit Ukraine.
As a result, the attitude toward media from partner countries has made a complete turnaround. While they were initially welcomed at the beginning of the conflict, they are now viewed negatively due to a general decline in optimism.
The Globe and Mail points out that internal political struggles in Kyiv have intensified again after two years of consolidation around the president. Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, has effectively taken the side of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny.
Referring to Ukrainian sources, the publication writes that Volodymyr Zelensky canceled his trip to the US because he learned that he would not be able to persuade Republicans regarding the issue of financing Ukraine.
Additionally, The Globe and Mail writes about worsening relations between Kyiv and Canada, as Canada has yet to deliver any of the 50 promised Light Armored Vehicles (LAVs) and armored vehicles for medical evacuation, pledged by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Recently, Oleksiy Danilov stated that Russia is trying to exploit the ‘so-called tension’ between Zelensky and Zaluzhny and is attempting ‘to spread disinformation and propaganda to destabilize the situation in Ukraine.’
