An audit by the Ministry of Defense revealed 4.5 million euros in unjustified payments to military personnel

The investigation showed that many military personnel were stationed in rear areas but received additional payments as if they were serving at the front lines in the hottest spots. Such a corrupt scheme has been talked about before, but no one had investigated it.

“In fact, a number of servicemen were stationed at permanent deployment points and performed functional duties unrelated to combat operations but received combat allowances,” the statement said. Specifically, evidence of corresponding orders was found in military units in the Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky and Poltava regions.”

According to decisions by the Minister of Defense, all audit materials have been transferred to law enforcement agencies to establish the degree of guilt of officials and compensate for the damage caused to the state. It is worth reminding that Ukrainians consider corruption in the Ministry of Defense as the main reason for problems on the front lines and the issue of embezzlement has long been brought to the international level.
