Most draft dodgers are in the western regions of Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Defense
12.07.2024 10:59The UK Ministry of Defence has clarified that the new Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, did not give Ukraine permission to use long-range missiles to strike Russian territory.
This information was reported by The Telegraph.
“The UK was forced to clarify that it had not given Ukraine permission to use Storm Shadows for strikes on Russian territory, causing an awkward diplomatic moment for Sir Keir Starmer,” the article states.
It is noted that the government’s policy on the use of long-range missiles “has not changed.”
“The British government allowed Kyiv to launch missiles at targets in Crimea and mainland Ukraine since their delivery last year, but prohibited the country from using them to strike targets in Russia,” the publication writes.
Starmer stated that Kyiv should decide how to use British missiles “in accordance with international humanitarian law” and “for defensive purposes.”
Chief of Defence Staff Tony Radakin clarified that these missiles can only be used on Ukrainian territory.
“This will not happen,” a source from The Telegraph said regarding the prospect of Storm Shadow strikes on Russian territory.
The British are concerned that such a step would escalate the war and could draw London into the conflict.
It is worth noting that President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the US to lift restrictions on strikes on Russian territory so that Ukraine can bomb Russian airfields.
