06.02.2025 - 05:03Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has criticized European Union member states for pressuring Ukraine to launch a counteroffensive against Russian Armed Forces.
This was reported by Reuters.
“Why, instead of building strong defensive lines to preserve its potential and territory, did many leaders push Ukraine into launching a counteroffensive with a utopian confidence in victory over Russia?” Radev asked.
The Bulgarian president also called on Europe to insist on having a visible role at the negotiation table. Otherwise, he warned, the security of EU member states will be decided by Russia and the United States.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that Washington is engaged in “constructive negotiations” with both Russia and Ukraine regarding the end of the conflict. However, he did not specify who exactly is participating in the discussions.
Later, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that contacts between Moscow and Washington have intensified at the level of specific government agencies.
