19.05.2026 13:32The military Telegram channel Deep State has reported the complete capture of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region by the Russian army — on an updated map of combat operations, the last section in the north of the city is marked as occupied by the enemy.
At the same time, the communications chief of the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces, Volodymyr Polovyi, stated that Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters are still present in the north of Pokrovsk, caught in a pocket that, in his words, is increasingly resembling a trap.
“This is a kind of pocket — we can see it on the DeepState map. Our forces are being stretched, and we are not getting any more of them. And this pocket is becoming more and more of a trap in a certain sense, because it is turning into a gray zone. Russian units are already there, they are infiltrating further north of Pokrovsk. All of this is a Russian kill zone — that is, Russian pilots are in the north of Pokrovsk among the built-up areas, they have full control over all approaches. And it is becoming harder and harder to remain there,” — Polovyi said.
According to him, logistics in this pocket are hampered by Russian drones. In addition, Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are attempting to enter Shevchenko, a settlement north of Pokrovsk.
Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov had stated back in December of last year that Russian forces had captured Pokrovsk and Vovchansk in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.
Russians have also resumed attacks and advances in the Oleksandrivka direction in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where Ukrainian forces had previously been conducting a counteroffensive.
