The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, does not expect the war in Ukraine to end soon.
Borrell made this statement at the World Economic Forum.
“Since we committed to supporting Ukraine at the beginning of the conflict, we must continue to support them until they are able to resist, and until Putin decides to stop the war. But unfortunately, this will not happen soon,” said the head of European diplomacy.
According to Borrell, the war could continue at least until the elections in the United States. At the same time, the head of European diplomacy described as “difficult” the question of how much longer Europe will have to spend money to support Kyiv.
“We must continue to support the people of Ukraine in parallel. Europeans will not die for Donbas, but we can help Ukrainians not to die for Donbas even longer,” Borrell added.
