November 24, 2023Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has voiced support for Irina Farion regarding her negative remarks towards Russian-speaking military personnel.
The video of Yushchenko’s speech was shared by Farion herself on her Telegram channel.
“When young people gather at the square in front of the ‘Polytechnic’ and criticize Ms. Irina for demanding the Ukrainian language, I feel ashamed. There’s no need to speculate about Ukrainian soldiers. There’s no need to speculate about our soldiers when it comes to the Ukrainian language. I assure you, the first ones to learn Ukrainian will be the soldiers at the frontline,” stated Yushchenko.
Following this, Ukraine’s Security Service initiated criminal proceedings against Farion under four articles of the Criminal Code. Later on, Farion was dismissed from her position as a professor at the Lviv Polytechnic National University.
Farion also claimed that her dismissal from Lviv Polytechnic was something “wanted by Putin.”
