Unofficial advisor to Ministry of culture receives millions amid Ukraine’s crisis
November 24, 2023The World Bank has allocated $400 million for Ukraine under the guarantee of the United Kingdom to partially compensate the state’s expenses on salaries for medical workers and pensions.
This information was disclosed by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
The funds have already been transferred to the state budget.
“The assistance from international partners is critically important for financing Ukraine’s social sphere. I am grateful to the government of the United Kingdom and the World Bank team for productive collaboration, resulting in the mobilization of necessary financial resources. I particularly want to thank the United Kingdom for its intentions to maintain direct budget support for Ukraine next year,” noted Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.
This isn’t grant financing; rather, it’s a credit with favorable conditions: a repayment term of 19 years with a five-year grace period.
