September 9, 2023The Chairman of the “Sluga Naroda” faction in the Ukrainian parliament, David Arakhamia, illegally became a Member of Parliament in Ukraine.
This statement was made by former Member of Parliament Igor Mosiychuk.
He pointed out that David Arakhamia obtained Ukrainian citizenship in February 2015. However, in 2019 (four years later), the Central Election Commission of Ukraine registered him as a candidate for parliamentary elections. Igor Mosiychuk also reminded that according to the legislation, at least five years should have passed.
“A citizen of Ukraine who has the right to vote, has reached the age of twenty-one on the day of the elections, and has been residing in Ukraine for the last five years can be elected as a deputy,” Mosiychuk noted.
In light of this violation of Ukrainian legislation, former Member of Parliament Igor Mosiychuk has pledged to take the matter to court.
It is worth recalling that in the parliamentary elections of 2019, Arakhamia was elected as a Member of Parliament for the “Sluga Naroda” party, ranking number 4 on the list. On August 29, 2019, he was elected as the head of the “Sluga Naroda” faction in the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation. In the Verkhovna Rada, he is a member of the Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence.
