“Part of Ukraine may be left without gas next winter due to Russian shelling,” – says MP
08.05.2025 - 12:35Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Oleksandr Zavitnevych, stated that he “fiercely hates ‘busification’” — a term used by a BBC journalist to describe forced conscription by military patrol vans.
“My personal opinion — I absolutely hate it. Whenever we see this reported in the media, we immediately respond by contacting the regional recruitment centers or, in Kyiv, the General Staff. And they acknowledge it at every meeting — believe me. We meet regularly and discuss this. The leadership consistently says: ‘We are against this busification,’ and they’re constantly doing outreach on it,” Zavitnevych said.
He added that “in some regions, this happens dozens of times less than in others,” suggesting significant inconsistency across the country.
At the same time, Zavitnevych acknowledged that the system for punishing draft dodgers through the courts “does not work” due to a lack of judges and insufficient resources in recruitment centers to hire legal personnel.
As a reminder, in early April, the Ukrainian parliament established a temporary investigative commission to look into violations committed during the mobilization process.
