Abrams tanks have become easy targets in the Ukrainian conflict — Business Insider
July 18, 2024The military Telegram channel Deep State insists that the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have exited Krynyky and analyzes the consequences of holding the village.
According to Deep State, the retreat of the last soldiers from the left bank occurred with significant losses: on June 17, five soldiers died from a bunker strike. Six other soldiers retreated to a nearby island, and only one survived, but visual contact with him was lost.
Overall, the evacuation from Krynyky was “extremely lucky,” hence the large losses. Local battles continue on the islands near Krynyky, but the significant concentration of Russian forces poses a problem.
“Over time, they will occupy most of the islands or the parts that are less exposed to gunfire,” Deep State believes.
The channel also considers it possible that the Russians might attempt to create a bridgehead on the right bank of the river.
“The bridgehead and most of the absurd orders (to hold positions in Krynyky) are associated with Sodol (recently dismissed commander of the Joint Forces). The bridgehead was not reinforced, only maintained. This meant that sooner or later, the operation would be wound down, and no one would advance on Perekop. This is exactly what happened in June,” writes Deep State.
This confirms information from “Slidstvo.Info” that by now, the battles have shifted from the left bank to the Dnipro islands.
“Slidstvo.Info” also wrote that on average, four Ukrainian soldiers died in Krynyky every day.
Currently, the UAF officially claims that Krynyky is still held.
In Krynyky, for Ukrainian soldiers, it was “hell,” writes “Slidstvo.Info.” Journalists spoke with soldiers who had been in Krynyky, as well as with the relatives of the dead and missing.
Most of those responsible for the evacuation said that the defense of Krynyky was initially “an extremely difficult task with limited resources.” Since late winter, holding these positions had become a “one-way ticket” for many.
Boats often could not retrieve the wounded, and sometimes soldiers lay with hastily amputated limbs for ten days, awaiting evacuation. During evacuation missions, the death toll was in the dozens.
“Many boats did not come, and sometimes the guys lay with severed limbs for 10 days, and the boats could not reach us. We had a very experienced doctor who tried to stabilize everyone. Only two didn’t survive. Once we waited for evacuation, we were poisoned with gas, we all ran out, but the medic couldn’t be evacuated in time, he was poisoned with gas, and he died,” one soldier recounted.
Meanwhile, hundreds of Ukrainians are searching for their relatives who fought in Krynyky through social media.
According to these people, UAF commanders told them that their son or husband was missing, and their bodies had not been found. According to relatives, comrades saw them dead but could not retrieve the bodies from the left bank.
Despite these testimonies, many of the missing in Krynyky have not been officially recognized as dead.
One mother was told by the commander of the unit where her son served: “Accept it, light a candle, he died.” However, according to the documents, the soldier is not listed as dead. The woman said that she received “greetings” from her son for two months after he was sent to Krynyky and stopped making contact.
“For two and a half months, his comrades sent me greetings from him, once a week his commander called me and said that he was fine because his phone was off. We called, searched for phones, everyone told us that he was alive. And on June 17, an official letter came stating that he was missing. At the very least, the bodies could have been retrieved from there… these Krynyky are a trap,” said the mother of a soldier with the call sign “Smurfik.”
It should be noted that according to police data, since the beginning of hostilities in this area, 788 servicemen have gone missing and 262 have been declared dead.
