Hungary will block 6.5 billion euros for weapons to Kyiv until the oil issue is resolved – Szijjártó

Hungary will block the payment of 6.5 billion euros from the “European Peace Facility” meant to compensate for arms supplies to Ukraine until the issue with the transit of Lukoil’s oil is resolved.

This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó in an interview with ATV.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister expressed outrage over the difficulties in transiting Russian oil through Ukraine to Hungary and Slovakia, whose energy supplies are “threatened by Ukrainian actions.”

“I also made it clear that until Ukraine resolves this issue, everyone should forget about the 6.5 billion euros compensation payment for the transfer of weapons from the European Peace Facility because how would it look if we facilitated the payment of 6.5 billion euros while Ukraine threatens the security of our energy supply,” he added.

Szijjártó believes that the European Commission “should put pressure on Ukraine” to allow Lukoil to resume oil supplies through Ukrainian territory.
