October 26, 2023Slovakia has explained its decision to refrain from providing military assistance to Ukraine
October 27, 2023Hungary will block the allocation of additional funds to Ukraine from the European Union budget until it sees a clear justification for this measure, rather than just an offer to provide more money.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban made this statement, as reported by Reuters.
“The European Commission has proposed collecting additional funds from EU member states to later allocate them for receiving migrants and providing assistance to Ukraine. Hungary’s position is clear: we do not support migration in this form, and we do not want to give money to migrants. We also do not want to provide more funds to Ukraine until we see a clear rationale for this proposal. What is in front of us now lacks a professional political essence; it’s just a ‘let’s give more money’ approach. This won’t work. For now, we reject it,” said Orban.
Meanwhile, a political advisor to the Hungarian Prime Minister, Balazs Orban, stated that some of the funds previously allocated to Kyiv did not go to their intended purpose but ended up in “corruption channels,” and there are no guarantees that such a situation will not occur again.
