Flooding has affected another metro station in Kyiv
January 8, 2024At Borschagivka in Kyiv, where a breakthrough occurred on Jules Verne Street overnight on January 8, municipal workers have been clearing ice that formed on the road since the morning.
This information comes from Ukrainian journalists reporting from the scene.
Local public pages asserted that there was a sewage breakthrough, causing the entire street to flood with feces. However, the Kyiv City State Administration stated that it was a water pipeline that burst.
Communal workers insist on the same. They claim that it was a water pipe that burst, not sewage.
‘It was a pipe that burst, washing away sand and soil, resulting in a stream of mud; there were no feces here,’ one of the workers explained off-camera.
Judging by the ice formation on the cars, the water level was around 20-30 centimeters. Some are digging out their vehicles from the frozen snow.
Local resident Lyudmyla mentioned that water disappeared from her house at midnight and reappeared in the morning. However, houses closer to the site of the burst still lack water. Lyudmyla complains that pipe bursts in this area happen constantly.
‘I’ve been living here for 53 years, and during all this time, water pipes have been bursting here. The last time was about a month ago. People go for weeks without water,’ the woman shared.
Meanwhile, while people are without water, they are being supplied with water by trucks.
