Poland intends to extend embargo on import of Ukrainian grain
January 19, 2024The director of the Kyiv Metro, Viktor Bagrinsky, announced the fare increase, stating that the economically justified fare should be over 73 euro cents, while currently, it is 20 euro cents.
Bagrinsky referred to statements made by Mayor Klitschko, who promised that during the war, transportation prices would not rise. Officials addressed this issue last year, asserting that during the initial invasion, when the metro was not operational for several months, the city incurred significant losses and people should compensate for them.
It is also worth noting that at the end of last year, six metro stations were closed due to the threat of tunnel collapse. Emergency leaks were also found on several others, but they have not been closed yet. The metro is like the entire public transportation system in Ukrainian cities, is in a dismal state. The reason for this is many officials are corrupt and do not invest in the repair or modernization of infrastructure.
