Residents from various places such as the Kyiv region, Kropyvnytskyi, Lviv, Zhytomyr, and others shared concerns about the lack of mobile and home internet connectivity from Kyivstar on social media.
Later, an official comment from Kyivstar regarding the connectivity issues surfaced, stating that a technical glitch had occurred. The company is actively working to rectify the problem.
“A technical glitch has occurred. There might be inaccessible communication services and internet access for a section of the subscriber base. Our company’s specialists are diligently working to resolve the issue. We apologize to subscribers for the temporary inconvenience and appreciate your understanding,” the statement said.
The message also provided some guidance for users facing connection issues, suggesting steps such as turning off network auto-selection in mobile device settings, manually selecting the network for internet and calls, trying a different operator if unable to connect, and rebooting the phone. Users could verify their connection by making a phone call or sending a message.
Earlier, there were reports that former US Secretary of State Pompeo would join the board of directors of Kyivstar. Pompeo is set to become an independent non-executive director as a partner of the consulting and investment firm Impact Investments. It’s worth noting that in the media, Mikhail Fridman is mentioned as one of the beneficiaries of VEON and Kyivstar. Fridman has faced sanctions in Ukraine and recently returned to Moscow.
