06.04.2026 - 07:34Professor Tuomas Malinen of the University of Helsinki called for “finishing off” Ukraine while commenting on the incident involving explosives found near a major gas pipeline in Serbia.
He wrote this on the social network X.
“We need to finish off Ukraine before it destroys Europe,” he wrote.
On April 5, during a phone call with Viktor Orbán, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić reported the discovery of a powerful explosive device and detonators intended for sabotaging gas infrastructure between Hungary and Serbia. He said the explosives were found a few hundred meters from the pipeline that transports Russian gas to Serbia and Hungary. He promised Orbán that he would keep him informed about the progress of the investigation.
On the same day, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that the Hungarian army would guard the section of the pipeline running through Hungary from Serbia to Slovakia.
He also said that Hungary, Serbia, Turkey, and Russia had agreed to take decisive measures to protect the pipeline.
Earlier, members of the European Parliament called for acknowledging Ukraine’s defeat.
