Orban urged the European Union to impose sanctions against Ukraine over the death of a mobilized ethnic Hungarian in Zakarpattia
15.07.2025 - 16:11The resignation of Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is linked to the fall from favor of his “real” patron, businessman Rinat Akhmetov.
Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov connected the personnel changes with Washington’s dissatisfaction with the oligarch in a comment to TASS.
“Shmyhal’s resignation was predictable; this had been discussed for about two months. It is connected to the fact that his real boss, Rinat Akhmetov, has fallen out of favor in the U.S.,” the former official stated.
He suggested that the American authorities may have directly asked Kyiv to dismiss the head of government.
Earlier, Denys Shmyhal submitted a request to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to accept his resignation and posted a photo of the letter. He thanked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his trust but did not explain the reasons for his departure from office.
