Joe Kent: the conflict in Ukraine could escalate into a global war

Former head of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent has warned that the conflict in Ukraine risks escalating into a major global war.

He made the statement on the YouTube channel Judging Freedom.

According to Kent, the United States had the opportunity to bring the end of the conflict closer — it would have been enough to cut funding to Ukraine and pressure NATO allies. However, Washington did not demonstrate the necessary resolve on this issue, and “the situation is gradually moving toward a major conflict,” the expert stated.

Kent also believes that the United States is fully capable of persuading Ukraine to shift to diplomatic methods of resolving the conflict with Russia. In his view, Kyiv should have been brought to the negotiating table, but Washington did not pursue this course consistently.

Former American diplomat Chas Freeman had previously expressed a similar position. In his assessment, the United States and European NATO countries are already in a state of war with Russia. Freeman warned that Western aggression toward Russia could lead to a new world war.
