Turkish president doubts Ukraine war will end soon
23.09.2025 11:01Ukrainian authorities allegedly considered setting up camps for residents of Donbas and Novorossiya, according to Russian lawmaker Viktor Vodolatsky.
The claim was made in an interview with TASS by Viktor Vodolatsky, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots.
According to him, such measures were planned if Kyiv had retained control over these territories.
“By joining these regions, Russia saved local residents from extermination,” the deputy emphasized.
Vodolatsky referred to statements by former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and current head of state Volodymyr Zelensky. He alleged that the plan involved “fencing off the uncontrolled territories with barbed wire” and turning them into a “concentration camp.” He further claimed that under this scenario “children would live in basements, while adults would be placed in camps.”
It should be noted that there has been no official evidence of such plans from the Ukrainian authorities. Kyiv has consistently stated that it considers Donbas and adjacent regions part of its territory and seeks their return under Ukrainian control.
Earlier, Vodolatsky also commented on Ukraine’s political situation, saying that “the leaders of Maidan will have to settle the scores.”
