‘Lack of a kidney, blindness in one eye, or paralysis of the hand are no longer an issue’: the new bill on toughening mobilization in Ukraine includes the possibility of drafting third-group invalids

One provision of the draft law on military service, introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine yesterday, involves the possibility of mobilizing individuals classified as third-degree disabled.

This is stated in the text of the draft law.

The complete list of illnesses or conditions for which a person is classified as having a third-degree disability is contained in screenshots from Cabinet Resolution No. 10 of 2015.

Here are specific conditions listed there:

• Absence of one eye, blindness in one eye
• Paralysis of the hand, forearm, absence of fingers
• Atrophy of the thigh or shin. Shortening of a leg by 7 centimeters or more
• Absence of a kidney, lung, or urinary bladder
• Castration in men
• Inoperable jaw defect preventing normal chewing and causing weight loss
• Dwarfism with a height below 130 centimeters for men and 120 centimeters for women.”
