The victims also claim that a sum of money, which they intended to use to purchase a car for the army, was taken from them. The men, Dmitry Yakovenko, Valeriy Kharchenko and Nikita Velichko, are all volunteers from the Dnipropetrovsk region. They traveled to the border region because it was easier and cheaper to buy vehicles there. They had 6200 euros with them. They were forced to write a statement claiming they had no money with them and to compel them to do so, bags were placed over their heads and they were beaten.
Afterward, the men were released and they went to the police. However, the police responded that during the time of war, the constitution and human rights are limited. As a result, so they do not intend to accept complaints.
