Olaf Scholz has been criticized for his statement about British military aid to Ukraine

Olaf Scholz admitted that he would not be supplying the Taurus long-range missiles, the Berlin equivalent of the Storm Shadow, because it would require the assistance of German troops directly on Ukrainian territory. He mentioned that this is already being done by Britain and France with similar Storm Shadow missiles. This is reported by The Telegraph.

This disclosure in The Telegraph triggered outrage in Britain, with Tobias Ellwood, former chairman of the House of Commons Defense Committee, condemning it as a deliberate divulgence meant to divert attention from Germany’s reluctance to arm Ukraine with its own long-range missile system.

Critics, including German opposition lawmakers, raised concerns about heightened risks for diplomats and personnel stationed in Ukraine due to Scholz’s statements, fearing increased exposure to potential Russian intelligence operations. The British Ministry of Defense referred inquiries about Ukraine’s use of Storm Shadow and its targeting procedures to Kyiv.
