September 11, 2023The Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom is significantly weaker than the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) as they are outnumbered by a factor of eight.
This information reported according to an article in the Daily Mail.
“The combat aircraft fleet is so small that it would be swept away if Britain were to go to war with Vladimir Putin,” the publication states.
The Royal Air Force has 169 fighter aircraft compared to Russia’s 1500, the author notes.
While the British RAF argues that the quality of their aircraft compensates for their limited quantity, the Ministry of Defense report indicates that the country is in a “dangerous position,” as mentioned in the article.
However, despite these challenges, the Royal Air Force has no plans to modernize 30 of its Typhoon aircraft and intends to retire them five years earlier than planned, in 2025, according to the Daily Mail.
The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom, facing budget constraints is also not rushing to expand its fleet of F-35B fighters. It is expected that by 2025, the country will have 74 aircraft instead of the previously planned 138, as stated by the author.
