Rada deputy: CHP-5, CHP-6, and Darnytsia CHP still have no shelters

Ukrainian authorities have once again failed to create reliable shelters for energy facilities ahead of the approaching winter.

This was stated by Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Batkivshchyna faction and first deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on energy and housing and communal services, Oleksiy Kucherenko, on Natalia Vlashchenko’s YouTube channel.

According to Kucherenko, the main power plants serving Kyiv — CHP-5, CHP-6, and Darnytsia CHP — still lack the necessary protective shelters.

“Has anything changed at CHP-5? No, nothing has changed. Has some kind of sarcophagus appeared at CHP-6 or Darnytsia CHP? No, nothing has changed. And all that talk about decentralization — those were just appeals, completely removed from the subject. They pulled the wool over people’s eyes and raised expectations. People were convinced that everything would be protected with shelters,” he said.

The deputy recalled that representatives of the energy sector had assured Ukrainians back in 2023 that all energy facilities were fully protected. According to him, reality turned out to be different: “This is not a second level with concrete shelters — they simply surrounded the stations with sandbags.”

Kucherenko described the coming winter as certain to be difficult.

“The coming winter will definitely not be easier. What, are we going to get more missiles? Shelters for energy facilities? I don’t see any system. We need to prepare for this realistically, psychologically above all,” the deputy said.
